____________________________________________
BLUEGRASS with a heapin' helpin' of gospel and wild mountain
tunes, with a dollop of country, old-time, western, and a dab of
the blues for good measure.
The Panhandle Polecats have been raising a ruckus around the Inland
Northwest with their traditional bluegrass for the last several years.  They hail
from the North Idaho panhandle where they were raised in their little mountain
home on the Rathdrum prairie.  This band is made up of five siblings who love to
play music almost as much as they love to fight with each other.  The band
consists of Jenny Little - laying down a solid rhythm on the doghouse bass; Hank
Little - the bluesman - on Dobro and harmonica; Molly Little on mandolin; and
twins Austin (banjo) and Bonnie (guitar).  All the Polecats sing at one time or
another with Jenny and Molly handling most of the lead vocals.  Now in their
fourth year as the Panhandle Polecats, this family unit has been helping
audiences all across the Inland northwest grin and tap their toes to good-natured,
high energy music and doing their best to educate the world on what a Polecat
really does sound like.
Cast of Characters
Jenny Little
Hank has the smallest hat in the band
and when he's out on the job (where
he works as a framer) he sings at the
top of his lungs until his coworkers
start throwing hammers and saws at
him.  Luckily, his talents also include
playing the Dobro and harmonica.
Hank Little
The shortest member of the band but when
she sings “Sheep Shearing Blues” (a song
she wrote) she means it!  Molly has sheared
sheep all over North Idaho and Eastern
Washington.  She does most the lead
singing and all the mandolin playing in the
band.
Molly Little
Austin Little
Austin has played with other local
bands: Rusty Strings and the South
Hill Ramblers.  But since both are no
longer in existence (Austin claims it
ain’t his fault, hmmm…) his playing
is now exclusive to the family band.
This twin brother to Bonnie has
written a few songs and also plays
the guitar when his banjo goes out
of tune (which happens a lot).
Bonnie Little
(Austin's evil twin) plays guitar -
pumpin' out a drivin' rhythm or pickin'
the melody.  She also sings and, when
Hank isn't looking, plays the
harmonica.  When she isn’t busy
playing music and riding horses (her
true passion) she attends North Idaho
College with her twin.
Panhandle Polecats
Jenny, the educated one of the
band, has played flute, viola,
cello, and piano, but when she’s
playing bluegrass, she keeps a
foot-stompin’ rhythm on the
doghouse bass.  Jenny also
renders some mighty purty
singin’, either lead or in harmony.
